Portraiture

Classic & Contemporary Portraiture

Portraiture is one of the most fundamental art forms there is. Had the great and good of past centuries - those Monarchs, Lords and landed Gentry who could afford it - not sat for their artists then our knowledge of what they looked like today would be all the poorer.

And, did you know that it was the advent of photography which freed many painters from the need to precisely 'copy' life and, instead, allowed painters such as Seurat, Monet & Manet to usher in the 'Impressionist' period of art.

At db-images we believe in using every tool which modern photographic equipment offers us to capture the finished ‘picture’ of the subject. Whether that aesthetic interpretation is classic, contemporary, posed, candid, funny, sexy, serious or purely officious is down to the clients’ preference.

Portraits can be captured at the db-images studio, at the client’s home or office or, indeed, at an indoor or outdoor venue of your own choosing: portraits captured by the sea or in a park or wood – or even a site of some historical or personal significance - can prove enchanting, while pictures captured in the privacy of the studio can offer a more private and relaxed environment in which to create your chosen compositions.

The subject matter of your portrait is almost without limit. It could be a picture of yourself – a picture captured for posterity; a portrait of you to be sent as a gift to your family, or to a boy/girl friend; a business-like portrait, destined to grace the inside cover of the Company Newsletter or magazine. It might be a series of staff portraits to adorn the wall at the reception of a health centre or place of work. We can also offer the ladies a full makeover with just a little ‘touching-up of eyes and other facial features.

These portrait sessions also offer you the opportunity to provide a truly unique gift for a friend or family member. We can also provide you with a personalised gift voucher to present as a gift - contact us for further details.

Whatever your wants, we will try to achieve no less than that which the great portrait-painters of yester-year attempted to; to capture the fundamental essence of the person, presented in a form which will stand the test of time as ably as those stately canvases of our forefathers have.
